De ma chambre à Paris, en exil, après 7 années passées loin de chez moi en Syrie, loin de mon père demeurant seul, avec les fantômes du passé et du futur perdu – comme il me le répète toujours -, j’ai commencé à enregistrer nos conversations téléphoniques par internet.

Ce film est une enquête personnelle sur l’expérience syrienne et la relation entre l’exil et la patrie, entre mon père et moi, l’étranger à l’étranger et l’étranger à l’intérieur. Tout ce qui nous rassemble est un son saccadé à travers lequel nous essayons d’être ensemble.

From my room in Paris, in exile, after 7 years far from home in Syria, far from my father who remains alone, with the ghosts of the past and the lost future – as he always tells me – I started recording our telephone conversations over the Internet.

This film is a personal investigation into the Syrian experience and the relationship between exile and homeland, between my father and me, the stranger abroad and the stranger within. All that brings us together is a jerky sound through which we try to be together.
